Indoor Harvest Lab publishes practical, science-based guides to growing food indoors: hydroponics, microgreens and sprouts, seed starting under lights, and herbs, leafy greens and fruiting crops grown in small spaces. Every guide aims to answer one question clearly, with the numbers you need (pH, EC, light intensity, spacing, days to harvest) and the reasoning behind them.
Why this site exists
Much indoor-growing advice online is copied from one blog to the next, and specific numbers often lose their source along the way. Research from university extension services, horticulture journals and manufacturers’ technical data is far more useful, but it is scattered and written for specialists. This site brings that research together and turns it into clear steps that a home grower can follow in a kitchen, a spare room or a balcony.
Who writes the guides
Guides are written by A. Bashar, a professional agricultural scientist (BSc Agriculture, MSc Biotechnology) working in crop research and completing a PhD in plant breeding. Day-to-day work in plant science involves experimental design, plant nutrition, stress physiology and reading the primary literature, and that same approach is applied here to home-scale growing.
Editorial standards
- Sources first. Recommendations are based on university extension publications, peer-reviewed research, government agencies and manufacturer data sheets. Key sources are linked in each article so you can check them.
- Numbers with context. Where a value depends on crop, growth stage, water quality or equipment, we say so and give a range rather than a single “magic” number.
- No invented testing. We only describe hands-on trials when they actually happened. Product comparisons are based on published specifications and independent data, and we say which is which.
- Kept up to date. Articles are reviewed and corrected when new research appears or when readers point out an error.
